How to take part?
Install Cisco Packet Tracer 7.0 on your computer
This is certified freeware of a simulation programme and you can download it HERE, for example.
Repair the 4 network errors which make it impossible for all four stations to display the www.dd.lab website (always 1 error at 1 station).
Initial status before interference by a drunken admin:
All of the equipment pings to all of the other equipment, i.e. you can ping from PC1 to PC2, PC3, PC4 and the server.
All stations are able to display web www.dd.lab.
There are three VLANs 10(PC1), 20(PC2) and 30(PC3) on SW1. Each has a different IP range, i.e. a different gateway.
IP addresses are not allocated from R1 dynamically with the aid of DHCP, but each PC1, PC2 and PC3 has a static IP.
There are no VLANs on SW2.
R2 allocates an address from DHCP to PC4, but the Server has a static IP.
Routing between R1 and R2 networks is created using static records.
Status after interference by the drunken admin:
The stations are not able to display www.dd.lab, but this is not a problem with the server.
It is thus necessary to look for an error in the network, be this in settings of the stations or correct configuration of the VLAN, routing or ports etc.
What is in it for you?
If you are serious about your career in network technologies, our consultant Alexander Pickar will look after you. Alexander has been working in this field for more than 20 years. He has started during the period when Internet was pretty unknown word for most of the population and it has been connected through dial modems with speed such as 28kbps.
If you are more interested in wireless technologies, Saša will do a real Site survey with you and you can propose the optimum distribution of access points for the project for deployment of a company Wi-Fi network together.
If you would rather not work in the field, you can prepare network components together before deployment with the customer. This ranges from unpacking, all the way through to loading of SW and basic setup.
You will get hands-on experience with the latest technology and try out first-hand how things work when a large company is working on truly major projects.
